Ledgers - all you need to know

Ledgers are used for a form of fishing which does not utilise a float this form of fishing is called not surpirisingly ledgering. This generally allows an angler to fish at much longer distances than with a float, say the far bank of a wide river or at long range on a lake.

The form of bite indication is either a sensitive built in tip, a screw in quiver tip or a swing tip. See legder rods for more details.

arlesey bomb, ledger weights These weights come in all shapes and sizes but by far the most popular are the arlesey bombs. These were invented by the famous Dick Walker in the 1950's. The streamlined shape was desgned specifically for fishing at long range which allows for smooth casting. Many are fitted with a swivel attachment to prevent tangles and some even have a screw thread to allow the angler to change the weight should conditions dictate. The sizes range from 0.25oz up to 4oz which will cope with most conditions, methods and types of venue.
